He informs me Patrician that also last June 18 Arqueolóxico da Caeira was inaugurated *Centro *, a novel project developed by the Town hall of Poio in the frame of the rural development program Proder II Region of Pontevedra. This center lodges an explanatory project in which the visitors can observe and know to the detail the characteristics of the existing petroglifos in the municipality.
The visit to the Center Arqueolóxico da Caeira begins with the projection of an introductory video, next of which one happens to visit the area of exhibition in which across different panels there is offered information about the petroglifos and different aspects of the way of life of the Age of Bronze. Also there are in exhibition replies of different objects of the epoch as vessels or weapon. The exhibition area completes with a copy to natural size of the petroglifo “Well Luck” realized by means of a scanner laser 3D that a three-dimensional model of the petroglifo has allowed to obtain, exactly submilimétrica. This representation was discovered in 1999 in an area near to the place of the archaeological center, specifically in the Mount of Liñares. “Well Luck” presents a few exceptional characteristics in the rock art of this area of the peninsula, resembling other pieces found in Ireland or in the French Brittany.
The visit to the Center Arqueolóxico da Caeira is completed by the projection of an audio-visual one who narrates the way of life of the settlers of the Age of Bronze and an interactive game in which across a tactile screen a series of questions appears on this historical epoch, directed especially before the infantile and juvenile public.
The visit to the archaeological center continues and Arqueolóxica da Caeira is completed with the walk for *Área *, a convalescent space in which there can be contemplated some of the most excellent stones of this important station of rock art. His conditioning by means of the creation of a footpath, the platforms construction to facilitate the vision of the petroglifos and the installation of informative panels tries to provide to the visitor an experience, at the same time, didactic and playful.
The Area Arqueolóxica da Caeira is to the north of the nucleus of San Salvador of Poio, specifically in the hillside suroriental of the Mount Tomba gives. The Caeira assembles an exceptional set of prehistoric rock art integrated for more than twenty petroglifos or rock engravings done in the rock. They are already known from the beginnings of the XXth century thanks to the work of the intellectual pontevedrés Ramón Sobrino Buhígas.
Two are the fundamental stones of the area: "You give Lebres to Laxe” and “To Pedra Grande of Montecelo”; the first one is a big panel with deer representations. Two deer (possibly male and female) arranged in mirror symmetry shape his central motive, being the this one of the most famous images of the Galician petroglifos. The second one integrated by a numerous and multicolored set of circular combinations, constitutes one of the most surprising testimonies of the geometric subject-matter between the Galician rock engravings."
