The most ancient Roman lighthouse of the world in assets, has just been declared Patrimony of the Humanity by the Committee of the World Patrimony of the UNESCO assembled in Seville.
The Tower of Hércules has received the support of all the countries and approved by acclamation inscribing to the Tower in the list of the World Patrimony as cultural place of "exceptional universal value". The candidacy of the Tower of Hércules began in 2001 with the creation of the Institute of Studies Tower of Hércules (IETH) and it has been provided with a wide popular support.
